Brandon's 55 Percenters

Welcome back to the fifty five percenters bitches! I love my picks this weekend, so let’s load up and make some cash. To the picks...

Arizona / USC Under 50

These are two teams with solid defenses and mediocre offenses. This total is definitely too high and fits in the fifty five percenter category. Now, as long as Pete Carroll doesn’t get douchey again and run up the score, we should be good.

Nebraska +14 over Texas

This probably sounds Ochocinco crazy, but I really like Nebraska getting two touchdowns. First off, the Lornhorns have been playing the crappy Big 12 all year and winning a lot of games by 7-10 points. Second, despite an offense that looks like Art Shell coaches it, the Nebraska defense is seriously good. Ndamukong Suh is an absolute monster at DT and with a name that great, is a mortal lock to become an NFL stud too. I will even say something shocking: this has all the makings of one of the biggest college football upsets in a long time. In the end, my prediction would be a very close, competitive game with Zach Lee (Neb QB) throwing a late pick or two to end up losing by about 10. Give me the points please.

Oakland Al Davis’ +14.5 over STEELERS

Just giving way too many points for a team that isn’t that good. Folks, these aren’t last year’s Steelers, we all need to accept that. Now, I will say that after three losses, it is perfectly reasonable to think that the Steelers will blow Al Davis and Friends out of the water to get back on track. But I repeat, these Steelers are a mediocre team. They don’t have that in them. Throw in their stud receiver throwing their QB under the bus and this team may be more likely to beat the shit out of EACH OTHER. As always, give me our boy Al plus the points.

Patriots -4 over DOLPHINS

The Patriots got smoked by the Saints, but the Saints also look unbeatable at home right now. The Dolphins are not the same offense without Ronnie Brown running the wildcat and Chad Henne was exposed against the Bills last week. I like Tony Sparano, but I don’t see him pulling out any magic here, even though he has plenty of room to hide some in those pants of his. Have you seen these things? It looks like he is wearing a hot air balloon below his waist. Give Sparano a tailor and me the Pats to win comfortably.

Vikings -3.5 over CARDINALS

Let’s see, a team that has struggled at home, an aging QB with post concussion symptoms and a team that locked up their division 5 weeks ago. Not a good recipe for beating a 10-1 team that has looked great the past few weeks. I also mention in the podcast that Arizona is letting up 6+ yards per carry in their last three games. APete hasn’t had a monster game yet this year and I think this is his first. Vikes, big, unfortunately.

Jake's 'Mikey's for the Weekend

The ‘Mikey’s last weekend were anything but money, and that’s on me. I was also awful in the NFL Preview show, but I’m putting that on Siegs. I’m hoping to turn the ship around by putting up a flurry of bets… 12 to be exact. My prediction is I will hit 4, but then again I’ve been so off with my predictions that it might actually go the other way… and that logic just made my head explode.

Saturday
Cincinnati (-2.5) over PITTSBURGH – Cincinnati hasn’t lost this year and have been winning by quite a bit. Pittsburgh is a good team but I think Cincinnati smells the undefeated mark (and the ridiculous pending National Champs argument from people that will just piss me off) and Pitt is the only school standing in their way. Brian Kenny one of the best coaches in college football leads his team to a win by more than 2.5.

USC (-7) over Arizona – if you think Pete Carroll wants to go out with anything less than a blowout, you would be incorrect. What better way to show your team still has something than to dominate a PAC-10 rival at home.

EAST CAROLINA (+3) over Houston – Houston may be #18 but they love giving up points. Am I that confident in this game? Not really. This game is either going to be an absolute blowout by Houston, or Carolina steals a win. Bottom line - East Carolina still has one of the most badass home field symbols in the country.

New Mexico State (+47.5) over BOISE STATE – it’s almost 50 points folks. I rarely like touching games like this because Boise is really good and NM is really bad, but I mean it’s 50 points. 50 GOD DAMNED POINTS!

Florida (-5.5) over Alabama – my gut tells me that Bama might sneak one out here, and if the line was anything over 6 I probably wouldn’t touch it. But with the story that Tim Tebow has written at Florida I just don’t see him losing. I wear Tim Tebow pajamas to bed, that is a fact. Plus Tebow has Jesus on his side, I dare you to bet again Jesus… I mean it’s fucking Jesus.

Sunday
Eagles (-5.5) over FALCONS – the Falcons are a different team at home, and the Eagles are taking their charge towards the playoffs only to lose in the first round. With out Matty-Ice and the possibility of Michael Turner not playing makes Atlanta an extremely beatable team.

CHIEFS (+5) over Broncos – the Broncos are a better team, I don’t think you can argue against it. That being said, Denver is 1-16 playing at Arrowhead in December, I’m going with history. Also I’m going with the team of Jamaal Charles and Matt Cassel.

JAGUARS (pk) over Texans – Houston has no heart, and in the time it took me to write this up Matt Schaub fumbled again. Do I think Jacksonville is good? Not really, but they’re a helluva lot better than Houston.

Chargers (-13.5) over BROWNS – I honestly don’t like taking 2 touchdown lines in the National Football League. That being said, the Chargers have been blowing out a lot of bad teams and lucky for them the Browns are one of worst teams in the NFL.

Vikings (-3) over ARIZONA – this is a completely different game if Kurt Warner plays. I hate betting for the Vikings but they’ve been on a roll lately. I think it’s going to be hard for the Vikings to stop Quon, Breston and Fitz… it’s going to be a lot harder for the Cards to stop Old Man River and Purple Jesus.

Patriots (-4) over DOLPHINS – at this point in my life as ‘the sophisticated sports fan’ I hate consistently betting with Tom Brady and the Patriots. Most of the people outside of Massachusetts that love the Patriots masturbate to Boondock Saints, say ‘brah’ too much and look like the guys on Jersey Shore. But I love Tom Brady, I love Bill Belichick, and I love them bouncing back from an embarrassing loss to the Saints… brah.

Monday
PACKERS (-3) over Ravens – one of my cardinal rules is never bet on the Packers, Bucks, Brewers or Badgers. Betting with your heart and not your head is not smart. But the Packers are on a roll and going into Monday on 10 games rest. On the flip side the Ravens played a physical overtime game against the Steelers in the late game. At this point in the season I like the team with more time to heal those nagging injuries that everyone has, plus it’s the Packers and they rock my socks off.

Brandon's 55 Percenters

Not my best weekend at 2-3-1, but I have a late addition, mainly because I'm angry about the Jets/Panthers loss.

Jaguars / NINERS Under 42.5

This just seems like too many points for two offenses that struggle. David Garrard + Alex Smith = Under. That sounds like legit math to me.

Stay tuned, I may add some NBA action tonight if I like any of the lines.

Jake's 'Mikey's for the Weekend

Sorry, I'm posting a little late because I've been busy packing. This week won't have as many as last because to be completely honest, I don't like a lot of the lines. It's weak... but deal with it, Brandon put up like 50 in the last three days, just go off that. Wow, that sounded hostile... I apologize my little cuties.

Washington State (+24.5) over WASHINGTON - just a poo-poo platter game. Both these teams are atrocious - I mean they have a combined 4 wins (3 of which are the Huskies). Washington might not even put up 25 points period.

Arizona (-3) over ASU - Siegs picked it too, great minds think alike.

Colts (-3.5) over TEXANS - the Colts just scraped out a win against the Ravens last week, and the Texans are on short rest. This was a tough game to pick but for some reason I like the Colts here. The Colts defense is playing really well and the Texans cannot run the football. For some reason my gut tells me that the Colts undefeated run stops here, but my gut is also hungry... so, I like the Colts to win here by more than 3.5 on the road.

Seahawks/RAMS Under 42.5 - just like the Wash St./Wash game this one has all the makings for a stinker. It's a borderline unwatchable game featuring two horse shit teams. The Rams don't have a quarterback and the Seahawks just can't seem to score period.

Dolphis (-3) over BILLS - I said on this website that Miami would beat Carolina and that Ricky Williams would have a great game. Where was I going with this? Sorry I was bragging about the game and forgot. Oh yeah, Bills-Phins. Well the Panthers are a helluva lot better than the Bills, so by the Transitive Property that means that the Dolphins should win by more than they did against the Carolina... or Dolphis eat Buffalos. It's science, don't question it.

VIKINGS (-11) over Bears - picking the Vikings? Woof.

Patriots (+3) over SAINTS - I may be one of three people in America questioning how good the Saints are and not calling them 'The Best Team in the NFC'. Other than the Eagles (meh), the Giants (who were in a slide), and the Falcons (awful away from home) they have not beat a team with a winning record. On the flip side, I might argue that the Patriots are one of the 2 or 3 best teams in the entire National Football League. The Saints have been putting up Playstation numbers, but unlucky for them the Patriots play defense. I still think it will be high scoring, but I like the Patriots by at least a touchdown.
